Machine Knitting

Semester two of my sophomore year in university, I decided to take machine knitting as my elective. I quickly fell in love with the process. I have never known hot to knit or crochet, so in this class I got to explore what one can create out of a spool of yarn. Learning knit techniques, creating swatches, and using different tools, my final for the class was to put all of our knowledge together into a garment of choice.

Two Piece Set, Machine Knitting Final

For my final project in MK1, I was prompted to create a garment. I came across a love for asymmetric tops and dresses, so anticipated on incorporating that design aspect. I landed on a boat neck, elongated sleeves and asymmetrical hemmed sweater and mini skirt. Using different stitch gauges, I created a flare sleeve on the arms. As for the textile, I used the drop stitch technique to create a semi loose-transparent design. Additionally created a choker with the leftover swatches. This garment goes along with my mini collection I designed this past semester, The Unholy Madonna.
