This collection is a part of a prompted class collection: each individual creates an individual collection that is cohesive as a whole. For the collection we decided that each person generates their own unique muse. As for design purposes, 90% of the collection must be black with a pop of red (lucky for me!). Additionally, we came up with a list of 15 trends that had to appear in our collections. Examples include: sheer garments, strapless/off the shoulder silhouettes, vests, maxi-length skirts, skimpy bra tops, corsets, flare features, and chunky belts.
My muse for this collection is inspired by 80s/90s rock and roll star. Admiring the grunge aspect of their lifestyle and aesthetic. When researching, I looked back at old photographs of rock and roll band members as well as the fans that attended these festivals and shows. The openness between masculinity and femininity when it comes to rock is expressed freely, as men wear sheer frilly shirts and women wear vests and ties. One of my favorite icons of the grunge vibe is Madonna. I drew inspiration from her style through several of the looks, specifically by referencing the cross.
